Most of these would be at least 1920 property marked in the receiver. Some well informed researchers estimate that perhaps 200,000 + or - WWI era Lugers were used by the Germans in WWII. It is very possible that this Luger was a personal pistol from WWI that was carried by an officer in WWII with no additional markings. Was it common that Imperial era weapons were pressed into Third Reich service without receiving further marks? Is it possible that this was the personal weapon of a WWI vet and hence the absence of Third Reich stamping? Thanks, Cesar.
But I was surprised to see that the weapon does not have any Third Reich era marks only the Imperial proof marks are present. He picked it up from a pile of pistols when the German 148th Infantry Division surrendered to Brazilian troops (nice to know which unit the weapon belonged to BTW). Just acquired one 1918 DWM Luger from a vet. To the best of our knowledge, all the examples shown are original pre-1945 manufacture.
